Account Management

Delete Your Account & Data

You can permanently delete your The Family Code account and all associated personal data at any time, at no cost, and without giving a reason.

Last updated: April 23, 2026

Before you delete — cancel your subscription first

Deleting your account will not cancel an active Apple App Store or Google Play subscription. Subscriptions are managed by Apple and Google and must be cancelled in their respective stores:

  • iOS: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → The Family Code → Cancel Subscription
  • Android: Google Play Store → Profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → The Family Code → Cancel

Two ways to delete your account

Option 1. In the app

The fastest way. Deletion is immediate and confirmed on your device.

  1. 1Open the The Family Code app and sign in.
  2. 2Go to the Profile tab (bottom-right icon).
  3. 3Scroll to Settings → tap Delete Account.
  4. 4Confirm deletion. You will be signed out immediately.

Option 2. By email

If you cannot access the app (lost device, forgotten credentials), request deletion by email.

  1. 1Email us at privacy@the-family-code.com.
  2. 2Use the subject line Account Deletion Request and send from the email address linked to your account. We may ask for one verification detail to confirm ownership.
  3. 3We respond within 30 days (typically within 2–3 business days).

Email requests are required by GDPR Art. 17 and processed free of charge.

What happens after you request deletion

  1. 1

    Immediate sign-out

You lose access to the app and your account is flagged for deletion in our database.

  2. 2

    30-day grace period

Your personal data is kept in a non-active state for 30 days, allowing recovery in case of accidental deletion. Contact us within this window to restore.

  3. 3

    Permanent erasure

After 30 days we permanently delete all personal data listed below, except records we are legally required to retain (see retention table).

What is deleted and what is retained

The table below lists every data category touched by the deletion request and how long it is kept. Data marked for retention beyond 30 days is held only for the specific legal or security obligation stated.

Deleting specific data without deleting your account

If you want to remove only certain items — for example, a family member you added, saved SOS answers, or the birth data you entered — you can do this directly in the app without deleting your account:

  • Family members: Profile → Family → tap a member → Remove
  • Saved insights: Tools → Saved → swipe to delete
  • Profile fields: Profile → Edit → request change (reviewed by our team to prevent accidental loss of birth data)

For broader partial-deletion requests under GDPR Art. 17 (right to erasure) or CCPA/CPRA (right to delete), email privacy@the-family-code.com.
